Why I Write in Public
A personal reflection on building in public, writing about the journey, and why sharing work matters more than perfect results.
The Fear of Imperfection
For years, I built things in private. Side projects, experiments, half-finished ideas. None of them saw the light of day because they weren’t “ready.”
That changed when I started writing about the process instead of waiting for the product.
What Writing in Public Gives Me
Accountability. When you tell people what you’re building, you’re more likely to finish it.
Clarity. Explaining a technical problem forces you to actually understand it. If you can’t write it clearly, you don’t understand it yet.
Connection. The best conversations start with “I read your post about…”
My Approach
I don’t wait for conclusions. I write about:
- What I’m building right now
- What’s working and what isn’t
- Half-formed thoughts that might be wrong
Wrong in public beats silent and safe. Every time.
