Building Tools

Live

A Blender addon for procedural building generation — draw a floorplan and extrude floors, doors, windows, roofs, stairs, and balconies. Actively maintained since 2019.

Building Tools

Crazy Fast Buildings in Blender

Building Tools is a procedural modeling addon for Blender, inspired by the old Ghost Town plugin for 3ds Max. Instead of hand-modeling facades, you draw a floorplan and the addon generates the building: floors stack, doors and windows cut themselves into walls, roofs and stairs and balconies assemble procedurally — and everything stays editable after the fact.

I maintain the project together with the original contributors. It has shipped releases from 2019 through today (currently v1.0.13, Blender 4.0-compatible), with docs, a wiki, and a tutorial video covering the full workflow.

Features

Floorplans to Buildings

Draw a 2D floorplan with Blender edges and Building Tools extrudes it into a full 3D building, floor by floor.

Doors, Windows, Multigroups

Parametric openings that cut real holes in walls, plus multigroups that mix doors and windows along a single row.

Roofs, Stairs, Balconies

Procedural roofs with style presets, straight and curved stairs, and balconies that follow the facade.

Blender 4.0+ Ready

Compatible with current Blender releases, with a test suite that runs inside Blender itself.
